When selecting a town, the #1 consideration is taxes. Evans is not competitive with surrounding towns since the taxes are much higher here. The solution is simple. Make budget cuts and lower town taxes!
Instead of losing population, Evans could see more people move here. When the town’s population starts increasing, businesses will take notice and consider Evans.
IDAs & “full time” marketing teams can not overcome objections to high taxes with significant tax breaks. PILOT programs off 10 year tax breaks. If you want to see lower tax bills, the town board has to start spend less.
