Evans NY Dying Hamburg NY Thriving

The [ BN ] looked at the 2020 census data in comparison to the 2010 census data. Evans was one of three towns to lose more than 1,000 residents.

Why?

High taxes! The closing of New Era and many other businesses forced many families to leave Evans looking for jobs.

Why are taxes high?

Mismanagement! Just take a look at your water bill for proof! While town hall will blame increased costs for employees, pension, health care, etc., the truth is that Elma Has No Town Taxes! How do they do it? Good management!

Town Hall will have a million excuses but the question becomes is why is Lakeview booming but not across the bridge in Evans?

Evans has 12 miles of waterfront and the best beaches in Erie County. Why are we a poor town? It’s Town Hall’s tax and spend policies that make Evans non-competitive with Hamburg.

Reading this season’s political ads, there isn’t much hope for making Evans more competitive.

Our elected officials (as opposed to public servants) are content to be big fish in an evaporating puddle. I’ll let you know the first time there is a “nay” vote at a town board meeting with the upsized three-person board. A 3 member board, a 5 member board, or more, the lack of public discussion before board votes will continue as business as usual.

What’s next? If the FBI now categorizes moms that speak at school board meetings [ CLICK HERE ] as domestic terrorists, it won’t be long for those speaking at town board meetings to also be considered domestic terrorists. The FBI not considers exceeding the three-minute time limit as “domestic terrorism”!

If you think I’m crazy, try to find in the public record where an Evans resident raised a concern. Good luck.
