Kathy Hochul and Mary Hosler have more in common than their last names starting with “H”. Both made pledges to run a more open government. Both are falling short.
Hochul did change “Three men in a room” to “Two men and a lady in a room”. However, that did not improve transparency during the budget process.
In Evans, Mary Hosler’s denial of documents requested under the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) raises questions about how the taxpayer’s money is being spent. Denied documents include those showing how much COVID money the Town of Evans received and how that money was spent. Also denied were W2’s for elected officials and those town employees earning $50,000 a year or more.
